12 Days Grand Omo Valley Tour

Day 1: Arrival in Addis Ababa

• Meet at Bole International Airport, transfer to hotel.
• City tour (time permitting): National Museum, Holy Trinity Cathedral, Merkato Market.
• Overnight: Addis Ababa.

Day 2: Addis Ababa – Arba Minch

• Drive/fly to Arba Minch.
• En route visit the Dorze tribe, known for their unique bamboo huts and weaving.
• Overnight: Arba Minch.

Day 3: Arba Minch – Jinka (via Konso)

• Morning visit Konso cultural village (UNESCO World Heritage Site).
• Continue to Jinka.
• Overnight: Jinka.

Day 4: Jinka – Mago National Park – Mursi Tribe – Jinka

• Visit Mursi tribe, famous for lip plates and body scarification.
• Return to Jinka.
• Overnight: Jinka.

Day 5: Jinka – Turmi (Hamer Tribe)

• Drive to Turmi, home of the Hamer people.
• Evening: possibility of witnessing a bull-jumping ceremony (traditional rite of passage).
• Overnight: Turmi.

Day 6: Turmi – Omorate – Turmi

• Visit the Dassanech tribe near the Omo River in Omorate.
• Cross the river by local boat.
• Return to Turmi.
• Overnight: Turmi.

Day 7: Turmi – Karo Tribe – Turmi

• Excursion to visit the Karo people, known for elaborate body and face painting.
• Return to Turmi.
• Overnight: Turmi.

Day 8: Turmi – Dimeka Market – Key Afer – Jinka

• Visit the weekly Dimeka market (best for seeing multiple tribes trading).
• Continue to Key Afer for Ari, Banna, and Tsemai tribes.
• Return to Jinka.
• Overnight: Jinka.

Day 9: Jinka – Arbore Tribe – Konso

• Visit Arbore people, recognized for their black clothing and beadwork.
• Continue to Konso.
• Overnight: Konso.

Day 10: Konso – Yabello

• Explore Konso villages, terraces, and cultural sites.
• Continue to Yabello.
• Overnight: Yabello.

Day 11: Yabello – Awassa (Lake Awassa)

• Drive to Awassa.
• Visit the fish market on Lake Awassa.
• Overnight: Awassa.

Day 12: Awassa – Addis Ababa – Departure

• Drive/fly back to Addis Ababa.
