3 Days Danakil Depression & Erta Ale Tour

Day 1: Addis Ababa – Semera – Erta Ale

• Morning:
  • Fly from Addis Ababa to Semera (600 km, departure 06:40 AM).
• Drive to Erta Ale (290 km):
  • On the way, visit Lake Afdera (Salt Lake) and enjoy a refreshing swim.
  • After lunch, continue the journey to Erta Ale Volcano.
• Evening:
  • Short 30-minute trek to the crater for an up-close view of the active lava lake.
  • Return to campsite for overnight under the stars (open-air camping).

Day 2: Erta Ale – Hamedela

• Early Morning:
  • Visit Erta Ale Volcano again at sunrise for a stunning view.
  • Return to campsite for breakfast.
• Drive to Hamedela (125 km):
  • Arrive around 4:00 PM.
  • Visit Lake Asale and Lake Karum.
  • Witness traditional salt mining and enjoy the spectacular Danakil sunset.
• Overnight: Open-air camping at Hamedela.

Day 3: Hamedela – Dallol – Semera – Addis Ababa

• Morning:
  • Excursion to Dallol (Danakil Depression), the hottest inhabited place on Earth.
  • Visit the colorful sulfur springs, salt mountains, and boiling mineral pools.
• Afternoon:
  • Drive back to Semera (450 km).
  • Fly back to Addis Ababa at 17:35 PM.
