7 Days – Omo Valley Cultural Discovery
Itinerary
Day 1: Addis Ababa – Arba Minch
- Morning drive/fly to Arba Minch via the Great Rift Valley.
- Stop at Lake Ziway for birdwatching.
- Overnight: Arba Minch Lodge/Hotel.
Day 2: Arba Minch – Dorze Village – Jinka
- Visit Dorze people, known for their beehive-shaped huts and weaving.
- Continue to Jinka, gateway to the Omo Valley.
- Overnight: Jinka Lodge/Resort.
Day 3: Jinka – Mursi Tribe – Turmi
- Morning visit to Mago National Park to meet the Mursi tribe, famous for women’s lip plates.
- Drive to Turmi, home of the Hamer people.
- Overnight: Turmi Lodge/Resort.
Day 4: Turmi – Hamer Tribe & Market
- Explore Hamer culture: hairstyles, body decoration, and rituals.
- If lucky, witness the Bull Jumping Ceremony (rite of passage).
- Visit a colorful tribal market (depending on day).
- Overnight: Turmi.
Day 5: Turmi – Karo Tribe – Omorate (Dassanech)
- Visit Karo tribe, masters of body and face painting, by the Omo River.
- Continue to Omorate to meet the Dassanech tribe, known as the “People of the Delta.”
- Return to Turmi.
- Overnight: Turmi.
Day 6: Turmi – Konso – Arba Minch
- Drive back to Arba Minch via Konso, a UNESCO site known for terraced hillsides and unique wooden grave markers (Waka).
- Overnight: Arba Minch.
Day 7: Arba Minch – Addis Ababa – Departure
- Morning boat trip on Lake Chamo (crocodiles, hippos, pelicans).
- Drive/fly back to Addis Ababa.
- Evening farewell dinner and cultural dance.
- Transfer to airport for departure.
